The lack of standardized skill assessment for automotive technicians in Uganda creates challenges for both employers and customers. This project develops national standards and certification methods to address this gap.
Project Components
- Comprehensive skill standards for multiple specializations and levels
- Assessment methodologies for both practical and theoretical knowledge
- Certification procedures and documentation
- Assessor training program
- Integration with existing educational and vocational frameworks
Once implemented, these standards will provide a common language for skill assessment, helping employers find qualified technicians and enabling mechanics to demonstrate their capabilities to potential clients.
Implementation Status
The standards development is in the research phase, with technical committees established for each specialization area. International best practices are being reviewed and adapted to the Ugandan context.
